Making his return to action after about two years, former UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos took on Yorgan De Castro at Eagle FC 47. Following a skid in his professional career that saw him drop four in a row, his headlining main event marked his first fight since December 2020.
De Castro was going into the bout looking to extend his win streak to three. Having won his debut fight in the promotion, ‘The Mad Titan’
Round 1
Junior Dos Santos and De Castro move around keeping a safe distance from each other. Dos Santos tries to go in. De Castro calls to JDS to stay in the middle and get in a brawl. De Castro misses a heavy right hook. Dos Santos keeps his low kicks going. Both go back to the center of the cage and move around. Dos Santos keeps chopping at De Castro’s legs. Dos Santos almost sweeps De Castro with a low kick. De Castro hits a leg kick. JDS circling De Castro on the outside. JDS connects with a good left. JDS moving backward. De Castro attempts a heavy combination but misses. De Castro loads up on more punches but misses. De Castro just switched his front leg and looks visibly hurt from the leg kicks.
Round 2
De Castro hi comes out aggressive and throws a flurry of punches. Dos Santos gets in range and tries to get a takedown. De Castro came in with the heat in the opening minute of the second. Dos Santos keeps working on the jab from the outside. De Castro trying to take Dos Santos’s head off but keeps missing. JDS stays on the outside and keeps circling with the focus on the jab. JDS hits more low kicks to the front leg. De Castro has slowed down at the last minute, He looks a little hurt and is struggling with the damage to his legs.
Round 3
Dos Santos carries the rhythm he found from the opening round. De Castro moves back after another leg kick. Dos Santos has popped his shoulder out and De Castro signals to the referee after confirming with JDS. Officials are in the octagon and the referee has not made a call yet.
JDS will be unable to continue after dislocating his right shoulder.
