Jorge Masvidal went to Stockton, CA lookin’ for a fight.
After putting a pause on his mixed martial arts career last year, ‘Gamebred’ is looking to test out his skills in the boxing ring. Thus far, Masvidal has not yet booked a date or an opponent, but if things go his way, he’ll strap on the eight-ounce gloves with a familiar foe — Nate Diaz.
“There’s no deal in place, but I would love to fight that motherf*cker in a boxing match,” Masvidal said. “Obviously I would’ve loved to have done it in MMA when he was free and I was free, but it wasn’t working out. I was competing with Usman for the title during that time when he was free, and then he finished out his contract.
“Now the UFC is so gracious, they’re going to let me box for a couple of matches. Nate could be one of them, hopefully. We have unfinished business.”
Masvidal and Diaz met inside the Octagon in 2019 for the inaugural BMF title at UFC 244. Masvidal won the fight via doctor’s stoppage following the third round. It was the last time he saw his hand raised.
“I was out in Cali for a couple of days, and I was like, ‘You know what? I’m going to stop by Stockton,” Masvidal said. “I’ve never been, and I heard the tacos are good over there and maybe I’ll run into Nate, and we can make this fight happen.’ So I took the squad over there, wrote down my number on a piece of paper, and started handing it out to people that look like they know Nate Diaz.
“I met a butcher, and he was like, ‘Yeah, I know Nate well.’ I’m like, ‘That’s funny because he’s vegan, but whatever, I’m just looking for beef, so you let me know how I find this motherf*cker.’”
Jorge Masvidal Goes Scorched Earth on ‘Piece of Sh*t’ Chael Sonnen
Switching gears, Jorge Masvidal took the opportunity to lay into three-time UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen, suggesting that ‘The American Gangster’ closely resembles that of a lesbian going through gender reassignment.
“I can’t stand that lesbian-looking transitional b*tch, Chael Sonnen,” Masvidal said. “And no offense to lesbians because there’s some hot, cool-ass lesbians out there, it’s just him with them glasses and that haircut – he just, he looks like he’s in transition.”
It’s certainly not the first time that Masvidal and Sonnen have traded barbs online and in interviews. Confusing lesbian comments aside, the main gripe that ‘Gamebred’ has with Sonnen is his history of blatantly exploiting the UFC’s long-gone TRT (testosterone replacement therapy) exemption protocols.
“I would love to bust up Chael, but he would never get into a boxing ring with me,” Jorge Masvidal explained. “…Chael would be one guy that I would love to f*cking break his eye orbital. Just because he’s a cheating f*ck. Like, if you – he’s gotten caught with more substances in his body, than any other competitor in the history. At one time, he had six or seven different substances in his body for one of his title fights. It’s like, you’re a f*cking piece of sh*t human being.
“You can go out there and hurt somebody just for you to f*cking make a paycheck. Because when you’re on steroids, as everybody knows, you become like a super soldier. So Chael would be somebody that I’d love to f*ck up. I would just tell him, ’Do all the steroids you want. It don’t matter. I’m still going to break your f*cking eye orbital, bro.’”
Following Chael Sonnen’s almost-win over Anderson Silva at UFC 117, it was revealed that he had an unallowably high testosterone ratio that was 16 times higher than that of the average man and four times the allowed maximum for an athlete. Sonnen was fined and suspended for one year by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
TRT was soon eliminated with fighters like Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and Vitor Belfort claiming that Sonnen’s abuse was the deciding factor.
