Jorge Masvidal Plans To Break Gilbert Burns’ Face To Secure Title Shot Against Leon Edwards

Jorge Masvidal believes that Colby Covington won't be getting the next title shot, even if Dana White has stated otherwise.

Jorge Masvidal thinks Leon Edwards should have a say in who he fights next.

After Edwards defended his belt for the first time at UFC 286 against Kamaru Usman, Dana White said the Brit would be facing Colby Covington next. However, Edwards was vocal in saying he didn’t think Covington deserved the title fight and would rather face Masvidal if he beats Gilbert Burns given their history.

Yet, White has been adamant that Covington will face Edwards next which Masvidal doesn’t think should happen.

“I love Dana but Dana says a lot of things, man. History says one thing. Whoever makes the most noise when they fight, whoever f*****g sells the most pay-per-views and whoever fans want to see at the end of the day, that’s what will get the title shot,” Masvidal said on The MMA Hour. “On top of that, as I recall, champions have always called the shots. Colby is only a champion of calling the cops, that cocksucking b***h. P***y a*s motherf****r. So, I’m going to continue to do me, I’m going to go out there and break Gilbert’s face and Leon will call my name out and I’ll fight Leon for this belt and that’s it. Colby can just sit in the timeout box until I call his a*s up to fight me again.”

Masvidal Says He’s Focused On Just Doing His Job At UFC 287

Although everything Dana White has said means Colby Covington will get the next title shot, Jorge Masvidal says he has a feeling he will get Leon Edwards next if he does beat Gilbert Burns at UFC 287 as he expects.

Masvidal is confident he will finish Burns and after he does that, he knows the fans will be adamant he faces Edwards next given the history they have.

“Nobody has told me that but I got this weird feeling in my heart that I just have to go out there and do my job and all the sticks will fall in place… Talk is cheap, so let me go out there on April 8, put my hard hat on, and get to work and whatever happens after that happens,” Masvidal added.

Jorge Masvidal is currently riding a three-fight losing skid and is coming off a decision loss to Covington. But, he is one of the biggest stars in the UFC and likely only needs a win or two to get a title shot, especially with Edwards holding the title.
