NSAC Cleared Him To Fight This Saturday Against Anthony Smith
UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones pre-fight drug test results for UFC 235 are back, and they’re not clean. As expected his samples found the same Turinabol metabolite which he tested positive in the past.
On Thursday afternoon, Nevada Athletic State Commission released the test results of Jones which were administered during the month of February. Out of five tests, two detected traces of the M3 metabolite.
In addition to Nevada Commission, Jon Jones also being tested by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) through VADA and USADA. One of the USADA drug tests is still pending.
Dr. Daniel Eichner, the president of Sports Medicine and Research Laboratory, concluded that these two tests showed ‘no evidence’ that the banned substance has been re-administered.
“The above analytical findings are consistent with the NSAC’s January 29, 2019 order to issue Mr. Jones a single fight license and, as such, the findings will not preclude him from competing on March 2, 2019,” the NAC statement read. “Mr. Jones will continue to be subject to random drug testing and monitoring so as to assure his continued compliance.”

Feb. 1: No adverse analytical findings (USADA)
Feb. 9: No adverse analytical findings (VADA Calif.)
Feb. 14: Adverse analytical finding: DHCMT M3 detected 40 pg/mL (NSAC)
Feb. 15: Adverse analytical finding: DHCMT M3 detected 20 pg/mL (NSAC)
Feb. 18: No adverse analytical findings (VADA Nev.)
Feb. 23: Results pending (USADA)
After going through an extensive NSAC hearing on January 29th, Jones was granted a one-fight provisional license for UFC 235. Commission had a knowledge that Jones might pop again with long term metabolite (a pulsing effect), so they asked him to run several tests leading into his fight against Anthony Smith.
That’s the same substance that popped in several Jones drug tests before his UFC 232 showdown with Alexander Gustafsson. Due to of that NAC didn’t grant ‘Bones’ a fight license which led the promotion to move the entire fight card on a week’s notice to California.
UFC 235 is set to go down this Saturday, March 2 from inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
