The MMA Gods must have listened when Jay Hieron said “I have a lot of bills and no paycheck” just after Affliction 3 fell down faster than my functional alcoholic neighbor walking up the stairs of her apartment on a thursday night. Strikeforce are like recovery experts when it comes to picking up the pieces of failed organizations. They cleaned up nicely when they picked up Gina Carano, Cyborg, Brett Roger, Villasenor and a crew of others from the failed EliteXC. Now they’ve snatched Mousasi to bang against Babalu for the Light Heavyweight title and Jay Hieron from Affliction to fill in the place of Joe Riggs who had an allergic reaction to an unknown substance and was forced to drop out just days ago. There’s a good chance that he experimenting with peyote and Riggs is in fact just trying to get associated back with this thing called reality…or so we like to think.
IFL veteran Jay Hieron was supposed to toe it up with Paul Daley but going against Nick Diaz will enable Hieron to get caught in the verbal maelstorm that is Nick Diaz. Hieron is like the posterboy of New York so everytime the dude opens his mouth, it sounds like you’re about 15 seconds away from being sold a stolen car stereo. This Carano/Cyborg card is really getting stacked, compliments to Josh Barnett. [Source]
