- Israel Adesanya thinks Tai Tuivasa should try every style he knows against Ciryl Gane
- “Bam Bam” is open to fighting Jon Jones
Heavyweight breakout star Tai Tuivasa is heading into UFC Paris for the biggest challenge of his celebrated career. He will be taking on No. 1 contender Ciryl Gane, who is known for being an exceptional tactician inside the octagon.
Weighing in on the match, reigning middleweight champion Israel Adesanya broke down how “Bam Bam” could possibly get the better of Gane.
Give it all you got
According to Izzy, Tuivasa should go out there and do pretty much everything. For Adesanya, “Bam Bam” could mix and match his striking, grappling and even utilize the “fence.” But more importantly, he “has to make it ugly.”
“I don’t know what Tai’s game plan is for the fight,” Adesanya said on Dave Blakamoto & Oscar Willis show via The Mac Life. “ I’d strike with him on the outside for a little bit, but then I’d have to get him on the fence and use my weight. If I was Tai, I would use my weight on him and Tai’s good inside with the elbows. When he gets a good flow going, especially when he’s on them, he throws them ba**s. Even fake a few takedowns. Tai can wrestle, why not? Just get him against the fence, pull him off the fence, create scrambles or create moments where the guy has to defend the takedown and you hit him on the way up. Tai has to make it ugly.”
Tai wants Jones
Tuivasa is currently sitting at No. 3 in the heavyweight rankings, having knocked out all his last five opponents. A win over Gane would solidify his case to fight for the title. However, an interesting narrative appears to be brewing as “Bam Bam” is also being linked to ex-UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. And though he looks up to “Bones” as a fighter, Tuivasa said that he’ll be happy to finish Jones as well.
UFC Paris is set to take place this weekend. Will “Bam Bam” managed to keep his hot streak? Let’s wait and see.
