- Israel Adesanya thinks he might fail to stop a takedown from Kayla Harrison
- “The Last Stylebender” acknowledges the former PFL champ’s power but he believes Holly Holm would win
Israel Adesanya is not doubting Kayla Harrison’s power and believes he might not be able to stop the former PFL champ from taking him down.
Izzy recognizes Kayla’s strength
A few years ago, Harrison boasted about her grappling skills and famously said, “Izzy couldn’t stop my takedowns!” Ahead of Harrison’s UFC debut at UFC 300, “The Last Stylebender” revisited that epic moment and surprisingly agreed with the two-time Olympic champion’s bold claim.
According to Izzy, Harrison’s resume speaks for itself and therefore there could be some truth to that.
“She could take me down,” Adesanya said of Harrison’s claim on his YouTube channel. “That’s fair. Look, that’s fair,” Adesanya said. “She’s a judo Olympian gold medalist or whatever, I probably couldn’t stop some of her takedowns.”
Izzy sees Holly winning
As for who’s gonna win the fight, Adesanya thinks that despite Harrison’s impressive grappling and PFL pedigree, Holly Holm has the overall advantage.
“I don’t know, but we’ll see see,” Adesanya said of Holm vs. Harrison. “She might take her down. She’s really good at takedowns, you know that. You know she can take men down as well?”
It’s the first time Harrison would step inside the UFC Octagon but she could already tell that “The Preacher’s Daughter” is the “toughest” opponent in the women’s bantamweight division. On the other hand, Holm is not being too confident. In fact, she even sees herself as the “underdog” in the fight.
UFC 300 will take place this weekend, April 13 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
