Hooper vs. Leavitt

At UFC Vegas 82, ‘two of the least intimidating guys on the roster’ will collide. Chase Hooper, who said that himself on media day, will take on ‘The Monkey King’ Jordan Leavitt in a lightweight matchup.

Hooper has exchanged wins and losses in the Octagon since signing with the UFC in 2019. It’s been win, loss, win, loss for the 24 year-old. After defeating Nick Fiore in his last outing, Hooper looks to finally obtain back-to-back wins when he returns against Leavitt on Saturday night.

Leavitt rebounded from a loss to Paddy Pimblett with a fiery first-round KO over Victor Martinez in February. The Las Vegas native will look to put on another show for a small crowd at home against Hooper.

Round 1:

Leavitt goes right to work, getting a takedown on Hooper. Hooper turns it around though, getting top position for just a moment. Leavitt gets back to his feet only for the fight to hit the ground again. Leavitt attempts a omoplata from the bottom position, which he doesn’t get. In another scramble, Hooper goes for an armbar. Leavitt survives the submission attempt by toppling Hooper.

The lightweights go into a 50-50 position and they eventually scramble out of it. Hooper seizes Leavitt’s back in the process. Hooper sinks in the body triangle and then goes for a rear-naked choke. After a few seconds, Leavitt is forced to tap out. The victorious Hooper screams in celebration.

Official result: Chase Hooper defeats Jordan Leavitt by submission (rear-naked choke) in round 1 (2:58)
