Greg Hardy vs. Allen Crowder Co-Headline UFC On ESPN+ 1
Earlier this month news broke that disgraced former NFL player Greg Hardy will make his promotional debut on Jan. 19 in Brooklyn. Now it’s confirmed that Hardy got a co-main event slot against Allen Crowder in a heavyweight bout at UFC on ESPN+ 1.
During Saturday’s UFC 232 broadcast UFC announced the main card bout order for UFC Fight Night: Cejudo vs. Dillashaw. It’ll be streamed live on ESPN+, the network’s subscription streaming service as well the preliminary card on ESPN.
”I’m not going to talk about Greg Hardy anymore,” White said. “I already covered this. I’m not playing this bulls**t with you guys. He’s on the UFC roster. Period. End of story.”
Hardy racked up six wins in (MMA), all via knockout. Three of those wins came on the amateur platform followed by another three on professional level including two under Dana White’s “Tuesday Night Contender Series.”
Hardy got his UFC contract in the aftermath of his first-round knockout win over Austen Lane. Many in MMA community and a media outlet was unhappy with Dana White’s decision of putting Hardy on UFC roster given his past troubles with substance abuse and disturbing incidence of domestic violence.
More controversy arose when Hardy was placed on the same fight card as flyweight Rachel Ostovich. Ostovich was almost pulled out of her fight against Paige Vanzant due to injuries after her husband allegedly assaulted and broke her orbital bone. On that UFC head honcho, Dana white defended the move saying that Ostovich doesn’t have an issue being placed on the same card as Hardy.
