Gilbert Burns believes Conor McGregor is taking a page out of Ryan Garcia’s playbook.

Ahead of his long-awaited return to the Octagon on Saturday, June 29, McGregor was spotted on social media dancing the night away alongside his longtime fiancée and a few other women, one of which he tried to sneak a peak at. It was certainly nothing out of the ordinary for the Irish megastar, but fans and fighters were quick to criticize the former two-division champion considering he’s a month away from a main event clash with Michael Chandler.

However, some believe that McGregor was simply playing up his playboy role, similar to what Garcia did in the months leading up to his fight with Devin Haney

“I think he is [McGregor playing mind games with Chandler],” Burns said during an appearance on the Show Me The Money podcast alongside Renato Moicano and Jon Anik. “He’s not drinking. I don’t think he’s drinking. He’s playing a Ryan Garcia character. 100%.”

Did Conor McGregor Learn Something From Ryan Garcia?

Before stepping inside the squared circle against Haney on April 20, Ryan Garcia had everyone convinced that he’d lost his damn mind. Aside from a series of completely unhinged social media posts, ‘King Ryan’ gave everyone the impression that he had been doing drugs and drinking heavily throughout his training camp. Garcia even chugged a beer while stepping on the scale during the official weigh-in ceremony.

As a result, Haney grew to a massive 7-to-1 favorite prompting Garcia to place a $2 million wager on himself. He then proceeded to deliver a career-defining performance, defeating Haney via majority decision, leaving pundits and the sports books absolutely stunned.

Is Conor McGregor attempting a similar tactic? Only time will tell.
