Gegard Mousasi admits he’s been slaying the LHW division with a supreme lack of training

The reigning DREAM light heavyweight champion. Never forget. Alright, you forgot. Just never forget it again.

In this MMAWeekly interview with Erik Fontanez, Gegard Mousasi admits that he’s severely lacking formal training, along with any training partners to work on. In a sense, that makes him ‘naturally athletic’ and ‘explosive.’ However, in reality it doesn’t since he isn’t Anthony Johnson, Melvin Guillard or Phil Davis. Prior to his fight with King Mo last year, Gegard Mousasi was on a 15-0 winning streak and was the last person to serve Hector Lombard a loss just before he went on a 24-0 winning streak. Back in 2009’s ‘Machida Era,’ Gegard Mousasi was the guy to defeat Lyoto Machida. Unfortunately at the time he was caught up between two promotions that prevented him from moving to the UFC — and two years later he still is. Once you’ve finished expressing your sympathy for Mousasi, check out this video of Gegard further breaking down the scenario he’s currently trapped in.
