Crying in the shower has been the de facto way to show your sorrow for years now. It was initially made famous by Dr Tobias Funke in California around the turn of the century and has made it’s way into the lexicon of of dramatic emotional displays ever since. What happened when Fedor lost to Werdum? Zeus cried in the shower. What happened when Damarques lost to Amir? Cat cried in the shower. What happened when my WoW account got hacked? I put my phone on speaker while I sat on hold with Blizzard customer service to purchase an authenticator while I cried in the shower.
This raw emotional state isn’t relegated to MMA bloggers, nerds and Dr’s, MMA fighters do it too: Tim Credeur is no stranger to crying in a porcelain container, even if he wins fight of the night.
I don’t care that much about Fight of the Night, my wife was excited, for sure. But when I got back [to the locker room], I was still crying in the shower, no doubt about it. I’m passionate about this sport and about what I do, and a loss is a loss is a loss. There’s no other way to go about it. I take them hard because there’s nobody else to place the blame on. That’s what I love about this sport. That’s what’s great about it.”
Crying in the shower is kind of funny, but I still think eating and crying is way funnier.
