The infamous curse involving legendary rapper Drake has continued with the first UFC pay-per-view of 2024.

In 2020, Drake signed a lucrative partnership with an online sports betting and casino company called “Stake.” Since then, the Canadian-born rapper has helped make the website popular by acquiring mainstream attention due to his massive bets on combat sports events.

Unfortunately, the 37-year-old hasn’t had the best of luck with his big-money wagers. As a result, he’s gained a reputation for putting a curse on anyone he picks. On Saturday night, the well-known rapper worth millions of dollars took another financial hit due to a UFC fight.

Earlier this week, the Canadian artist announced he gambled $700,000 on Sean Strickland to defend his middleweight title against Dricus du Plessis in the UFC 297 main event. Strickland and Du Plessis battled through a grueling twenty-five minutes of action before Du Plessis ultimately emerged victorious by split decision.

It should be noted that there are rumors that the Canadian rapper’s massive wagers are directly associated with his Stake partnership.

Dricus du Plessis called out Israel Adesanya for his first middleweight title defense during his post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier. Adesanya hasn’t officially announced if he will fight in 2024, but there is growing speculation that the former 185-pound king wants to return sooner than later.
