Demetrious Johnson was furious with the judges’ decision for Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou

Saturday night’s heavyweight boxing match between Fury and Ngannou provided a life lesson for all combat sports fans. Although he was relentlessly counted out, ‘The Predator’ went toe-to-toe with the WBC heavyweight champion, including a shocking knockdown in round three.

Once the dust settled, Fury had his hand raised by split decision (96-93, 95-94, and 94-95), which frustrated many people who watched.

As for MMA legend Demetrious Johnson, he provided a live reaction to the decision and followed up with an in-depth breakdown of what happened between Fury and Ngannou.

‘Mighty Mouse’ had this to say:

“What? These guys are f*cking high. Judges are blind. Booooooo…Each time there is some stuff that I’m just no ok with that goes in the fight world, I just [take a shot of tequila]…Francis Ngannou came out and executed beautifully. He won that fight. He was absolutely robbed. This is the thing that’s destroying boxing.”

Demetrious Johnson doesn’t want Francis Ngannou to fight in MMA again

Following his impressive performance on Saturday, fans are already calling for another high-profile boxing match between Francis Ngannou and a top-tier heavyweight. Meanwhile, Ngannou will have to organize his priorities, as he signed a contract with the PFL to fight in MMA next year.

During the previously mentioned reaction video, Demetrious Johnson had this to say about wanting Ngannou to prioritize boxing over MMA:

“I don’t think I wanna see Francis to mixed martial arts. I know that might be hard to hear, but I don’t see why PFL cannot do a boxing. Why not PFL do boxing? You have one of the biggest stars in boxing right now, Francis, who just beat the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, Tyson Fury. I want to see Francis box. I don’t want to see him do mixed martial arts…There’s nothing left for him to do in [MMA].”

Francis Ngannou’s last MMA fight was a UFC heavyweight title defense against Ciryl Gane in January 2022, where he extended his win streak to six. Now that Ngannou made a statement against Tyson Fury, he plans to return to MMA in 2024.

Only time will tell who is picked for his first opponent under the PFL banner.
