- Chael Sonnen accused boxing of being fake after Tyson Fury’s controversial win over Francis Ngannou
- Most MMA legends also believe “The Predator” should’ve been the clear-cut winner
Chael Sonnen is one of the many UFC legends who refutes Tyson Fury’s split decision win over Francis Ngannou. For “The Bad Guy,” it was the first time he realized that boxing is fake and utterly bias.
Boxing would never let Francis win
In a juicy rant on his YouTube channel, Sonnen fumed about the fact that Ngannou lost despite knocking down Fury and controlling the match for the better part. The way Sonnen sees it, the governing bodies of boxing knew early on that they will not hand it to “The Predator” if the fight went to distance and it just makes the whole thing “disgusting.”
“I’ve had two interactions with Francis Ngannou, neither pleasant,” Sonnen began. “One of them involved security… So, I’ll just disclose a biasness to you. That being said, a man’s commitment and body of work deserve to be recognized and it deserves to be recognized accurately. That is disgusting, what they just did to him… there was no chance that boxing was going to allow him to come in and get that win if it went to a decision
“Francis knocked the hell out of him,” he added. “This is a heartbreaking thing for me, and not because of whatever weirdness I’ve got going with Francis. It’s a heartbreaking thing for me because, for my entire life, I’ve respected boxing. To find out that boxing is fake… You cannot be a real sport.”
Many believe Francis won
Ngannou’s knockdown on Fury was the best highlight of the match. Unfortunately, the former UFC heavyweight champ wasn’t able to follow up but nevertheless, many believe Ngannou should’ve gotten the decision.
Indeed, it’s hard to digest that Ngannou failed to make history despite his impressive performance against one of, if not the best, heavyweight boxers in the world.
It is yet to be determined when exactly will Ngannou make his PFL debut but Fury is already scheduled to face Oleksandr Usyk in a unification bout.
