Daniel Cormier didn’t like everything he saw at UFC Austin.
Last’s nights fights at The Moody Center ultimately delivered with a 75% finishing rate. However, one of those stoppages wasn’t like the others and no, it’s not about the pair of slam knockouts. We’re talking about the controversial co-headliner between Jalin Turner and Bobby Green.
Unfortunately for Green, he’d go out on his shield, taking much punishment on the canvas after being knocked down. Referee Kerry Hatley took his sweet time in stopping the contest, letting Turner pour on some major ground and pound on Green before he finally stepped in.
Cormier Claims It Was ‘The Worst Stoppage In UFC History’
DC has a bone to pick with the referee for not calling the fight off sooner.
“Jalin Turner comes in, does his thing, fights the perfect fight. Hits Bobby Green with a right hand behind the ear, drops him. Bobby falls face down. Guys, I have said time and time again when someone falls face down, there’s no need to count in boxing and there is no need for follow up shots. For some reason, the referee just doesn’t wanna stop the fight,” Cormier said on his YouTube channel.
“Bobby is laying flat on his belly getting just hit over and over and over until eventually, mercifully, the referee stops the fight. I thought it was the worst stoppage in UFC history.”

‘That How Bad It Was…’
Cormier believes Green took many unnecessary shots all as a result of Hatley’s ‘bad mistake’.
“The concern on the face of everyone sitting Octagon side was crazy. People were like, I saw a little girl next to the octagon. Turn away. She turned away. Not a little girl. She’s a teenager. Late 19, 20, she turns away because she can’t watch what’s going on in the Octagon. That’s how bad it was.
“He made a bad mistake. It was terrible, and there is no reason for a guy to take that amount of damage after the fight is over and it’s very clear that the fight is over.”
