Former UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier is open to Nate Diaz returning at the Sphere, but not as the headliner.

Diaz recently took to social media to express interest in returning to the UFC at UFC 306 in September at The Sphere. Immediately, many fans were interested in his return, but Cormier welcomes Nate Diaz back to the UFC at the Sphere but prefers not to see him as the main event.

“I like Nate Diaz, but I believe now it is the time for us to be honest with ourselves so that Nate can start to be honest with himself, There are only a couple of people that he can headline a pay-per-view with right now, just because of where he is in his career. I think that’s Conor McGregor if they do the trilogy and possibly Jorge Masvidal,” Cormier said on his YouTube channel.

“But we also have to be honest to ourselves in this regard: We are keeping these dudes, Masvidal and Diaz, relevant,” Cormier added. “Because when they say things everybody jumps on it, like I am doing right now myself. But does that pay-per-view, Noche UFC, look better to you with Nate as the main event? While the name value is exciting, Nate Diaz the fighter isn’t that guy anymore.

The big reason why Daniel Cormier doesn’t want Nate Diaz at UFC 306 as he believes there are much better main events than him.

“Will I watch him on the pay-per-view card? Absolutely,” Cormier said… “But to be the headliner, with all these great fighters that are deserving of that spot? I don’t think so, I don’t need to see that.”

Although Diaz expressed interest in returning at UFC 306 at The Sphere, it doesn’t mean he has to be the main event.

Nate Diaz fires back at Daniel Cormier

Following Daniel Cormier’s comments, Nate Diaz took to social media to blast the former champ-champ about his comments.

“This bitch is not a fighter. Complete opposite. Good talk DC,” Diaz put in a tweet.

Currently, Cormier has yet to respond to Diaz’s tweet and whether or not he will is to be seen.
