  • Dana White revealed that Jon Jones is now recovering after a successful surgery
  • The UFC boss confirmed that “Bones” will still face Stipe Miocic

UFC president Dana White is pleased with how the interim heavyweight title fight went down at UFC 295 but he insists that not one bit will change in the Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic title match.

“Bones” is already recovering

Speaking to reporters in his post-UFC 295 presser, the UFC boss was glad to let everybody know that Jones vs. Miocic is still on. In fact, White revealed that “Bones” had a successful surgery and is now already rehabbing.

“No [there will be no changes] you do those two. Those two both deserve that fight,” White said of Jones vs. Miocic. “That’s the fight they want. What I love is that Jon Jones, as soon as he heard that he was injured and he knew how bad it was, went right to LA, got the surgery and he’s already in in rehab. Physical therapy, I should say. He’s in physical therapy. We’re happy about it.”

Stipe only wants Jones

Tom Aspinall captured the interim heavyweight title with a bang and stunned the world with his KO finish on Sergei Pavlovich. Some speculate that it could have changed the heavyweight landscape and the UFC might be interested in booking Aspinall against Miocic while waiting for Jones. However White said Stipe only has his sights on “Bones” and is not even sure if he wants to take on anybody after Jones.

“I had a lunch the other day with Stipe and Stipe is very focused. Listen, it’s one of those fights, you have the best heavyweight of all time versus the greatest martial artist of all time. That’s the fight they want. It’s the fight that makes sense, it’s the fight that should happen and I asked Stipe that question [about possibly facing Aspinall or other heavyweights], he says, ‘I don’t even know. All I care about right now is Jon Jones. It’s the only thing I’m focused on. I want this fight really bad,'” White divulged.

Having heard what White had to say about the heavyweight division, it appears that Aspinall will be waiting for the Jones vs. Miocic fight before the unification. Aspinall believes that even if he wins the heavyweight title, he still needs to fight and beat Jones.
