Dana White Claims “Horrible Stoppage” Goofed Up The Main Event Of UFC Brooklyn

Dana White Believes The Fight Between TJ Dillashaw And Henry Cejudo Was Stopped Too Early

The stoppage is one of the most controversial things in MMA. The referee immediately steps in when the fighter taps or the KO is obvious. But TKO is a vulnerable category.

Henry Cejudo defeated TJ Dillashaw at the main event of UFC Brooklyn this Saturday night after only 32 seconds! Everybody was expecting five rounds of war but “The Messenger” ended it sooo quickly!

Henry rocked TJ and punched him few times on the ground before the ref stepped in. But did the referee Kevin MacDonald stop Cejudo Vs Dillashaw fight too early? Opinions are divided.

Henry Cejudo praises the stoppage. (h/t MMAMania)

“When your body goes limp like that, when you cut weight like that, thinking you’re gonna go out there and just take my belt from me, that’s not the way it works,” Cejudo said after the fight. “So I think it was a great stoppage. This is why MMA is sanctioned now because of refs. If I was to talk to that ref, ‘You’re okay, man. We were both in there. We saw him go limp a few times.’ Watch it again and you’ll see it.”

Junior dos Santos agrees, but says a bit later call would “leave no doubts”.

Did you guys see it just happened again.

I don’t think it was a wrong stoppage

But as we all saw TJ was still there trying so why not allow him to try.

Certainly Cejudo would keep punching and finish him but let it happen that way then. It would leave no doubts to nobody.

But, on the other side, UFC boss Dana White believes TJ Dillashaw was not given a proper chance to recover and calls the stoppage “horrible”.

“I thought it was an early stoppage, too,” White said during the post-fight press conference (watch it). “You’ve got two of the best guys in the world, two world champions in a superfight. Let them fight; let them finish. I’m not taking anything away from Cejudo, because the fight went 20 seconds and Cejudo busted him up, but Jesus Christ, let them fight. Horrible stoppage.”

The former UFC Heavyweight champion Frank Mir criticizes.

I thought it was a bad stoppage he was never out #UFCFightNight #CejudoDillashaw

TJ Dillashaw even went one step further, claiming “the match was stolen”, and implied he knew the rules better than the referee Kevin MacDonald!

Both fighters are interested in a rematch and a two-division champ status. While TJ Dillashaw hopes for another UFC Flyweight division fight, Cejudo wants second meeting at Bantamweight class.

Do you support Dana White? Did the referee Kevin MacDonald stopped the clash between Henry Cejudo and TJ Dillashaw too early?
