Cris Cyborg: Win Over Holly Holm At UFC 219 Will Be Like Beating Ronda Rousey On The Same Night

Cris “Cyborg” Justino has been considered one of the most feared and dominant champions in WMMA for many years.

Cyborg, who held the Invicta featherweight throne for three years before sign in with the UFC in 2016. Cyborg will defend the UFC featherweight title against Holly Holm at UFC 219, believes that due to Holm’s euphoric win over Rousey in 2015, a win over “The Preacher’s Daughter” at UFC 219 will also mean that she has beaten Ronda Rousey.

Cyborg told Ariel Helwani in a recent episode of MMA Hour:

“I think each fight is a challenge for me,” Cyborg said on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour. “I think when I fight with Holly and beat Holly, I’m gonna beat Ronda at the same time. Everybody that follows my career knows how much I did for this fight to happen and didn’t happen.

“I think if I beat Holly I’m gonna beat Ronda the same day. I feel like that because Holly fought Ronda, and when this fight happened, Dana (White) said if Ronda beat Holly, (her) next fight would be Cyborg, and then Holly stopped Ronda before. Just people think about, simple.”

Cris Cyborg recently won the vacant 145-pound title against Tony Evinger by TKO in the third round at UFC 214. while Holm is coming off a vicious knockout win over Bethe Correia at UFC Fight Night 111, on June 17 in Singapore.

Cyborg stated former bantamweight champ will feel the power in my punch once we meet in Las Vegas on December 30.

“I think it’s gonna be great fight,” Cyborg said, “but I think she had so much boxing fights, I think she had a lot of punches, and one thing when I fight her, she will feel the difference with my punch. She punched a lot of girls at 135 and I have the time to recover my body after (fighting at) 140, getting my punch again. I think it’s a great fight.”

Justino recently signed a new contract with the UFC ahead of the UFC 219 and is happy that UFC is started to treat her nice.

“I think we just put a little bit more championship clause, but I’m really happy,” she said. “I think I feel good and the UFC started to treat me nice, and I think we’re growing together. If we work together, it’s gonna be blessed, it’s gonna be nice. This is the opportunity to make nice fights and people enjoy my fights, enjoy my career.”
