Court McGee came back from death just to win The Ultimate Fighter Season 11. Maybe Court McGee is less of an ‘American Zombie’ and more of an ‘American Jesus Christ’. Like Jesus, Court McGee has also been magically resurrected. Both are also runner-ups in the greatest beard in the history of everything. Unfortunately, as long as Chuck Norris roams the universe, they will forever be in a tie for second place.
In an interview with KLSTV, Court talks about his voyage into the land of drug addiction and the night when he died at his cousin’s house.
“I started hanging out with the wrong people — drinking, partying. It went from that to worse, to drinking every night. I started mixing that with the alcohol and then it got worse. It went from that to cocaine and heroin, and then overdose. I was a horrible person, I was unemployable. I didn’t have any friends. I was a detriment to society. I had nothing.”
Now try having your mother talk about the time when you were found dead in a corner.
“Court overdosed at his cousin’s house. She was the one that opened up the door and saw him and he was dead. He was clinically dead. He always pushes the limit and for him it was death. We always wondered when he would hit rock bottom and for him it was death.”
“I always knew Court was going to make it, I just didn’t know how.”
Well, at least Court McGee didn’t do something silly like relapse in Las Vegas and end up in Iowa four days later looking for methamphetamine. Oh, wait…
“I took one drink in Vegas and I ended up in Iowa four days later with no pants on and a long sleeve shirt, looking for meth. I decided after that, you know, ‘Well, it looks like I’m not going to be drinking anymore’. About a week and a half later on April 16, 2006, that was my last drop. That was it.”
Well, it looks like your high-school guidance counselor was right. Marijuana is a gateway drug. A gateway to a six-figure UFC contract and to claim victory as The Ultimate Fighter. Just kidding. Stay off drugs (unless you want to win The Ultimate Fighter). Just kidding about that too. Drugs are bad for you…unless you want to grow a gnarly beard. [Source]
