Daniel Cormier has chimed in on Nate Diaz‘s “latest submission win”.

And no, DC isn’t talking about Diaz’s win over Tony Ferguson. The former two-division champion is actually referring to Diaz choking out Logan Paul lookalike Rodney Peterson on the streets of New Orleans.

Diaz now has a warrant out for his arrest for second-degree battery following his street fight finish, despite the possibility of Peterson starting the fight in the first place.

DC Criticizes Peterson

Whatever the case may be, Cormier has sounded off on Peterson for the scuffle with Diaz.

“Where in the world do you take a guy that’s known for being dangerous and you choose that guy as the guy you have an altercation with?” Cormier said on his YouTube channel. “Especially when the guy in Nate Diaz, [who] has a history of defending himself, whether it be on the streets, in a MMA fight, in a boxing match, which he’s gonna have with Jake Paul down the line, or in any situation.

“Nate Diaz doesn’t say to himself, ‘I can’t do this right now, due to the fact that it might escalate’. Nate Diaz wants to escalate. He almost embraces the escalating. That’s why at the fight you saw him throw a bottle or whatever he threw at the guy that kind of started this ruckus.”

“What Do You Expect To Happen?”

As the result of his street fight with Diaz, Peterson’s following has exploded on social media as he has amassed 88,000 followers on Instagram alone. But, DC isn’t a fan of how Peterson got this ‘one-hit wonder’ status.

“All these creators, everybody’s creating content. As I’m creating content now, everybody’s creating content. Everybody wants to be famous, but I don’t know if being famous while challenging someone as dangerous is the way to get it done. Because what do you expect to happen? I’ve seen so many great fighters become domesticated. The kids, the house, the wife. It all slows you down and you almost become domesticated. Nate ain’t there yet. So, when you pick a fight with Nate Diaz, he’s going to fight you wherever you are.

“You pick a fight with ‘Gamebred’ Jorge Masvidal, he will fight you wherever you are. There are a lot of guys in this game that will fight you. So when you play the game, you get some pretty sh*tty prizes and so the kid gets choked out.”

Cormier Says It Could Have Been Worse

For Peterson, Cormier believes he got lucky that he was caught in a choke by Diaz rather than big blows to the head.

“Reality is it could have been much worse,” Cormier said of the altercation. “Nate choking him, it was almost doing him a favor because you don’t even feel that. You literally just go to sleep. It could have been much worse for that kid.

“My buddy Brian told me the kid had his hands up and somebody pushed him towards Nate. But when you go in at a man and you’re in that posture where you’re big and you’re threatening, when can you expect that man to defend himself? I think that’s the problem with the world today. First, everybody’s trying to capture moments to become famous. Two, there is no, there is no punishment for stepping outta line unless you step outta line with the wrong person.”
