Nate Diaz has been issued an arrest warrant for suspicion of second-degree battery in New Orleans.

On Friday, April 21, Diaz was involved in several altercations that led to legal trouble. The Stockton native made the trip to Louisana to attend the Misfits Boxing event called MF x DAZN X Series 6, where he was supporting his friend Chris Avila in the co-main event.

Diaz’s first altercation began when a reality TV star named Chase DeMoor screamed something that he didn’t like ringside. The former UFC fighter turned around and launched a water bottle, leading to security needing to separate everyone.

Later that night, DeMoor and Diaz’s team got into a wild brawl on Bourbon Street. The Stockton native was seen choking out a Logan Paul lookalike, leaving him unconscious. The video went viral, and now the New Orleans Police Department wants answers.

According to multiple sources, Diaz is facing second-degree battery charges for his actions toward Rodney Peterson. At this time, the former UFC lightweight title challenger is not in custody.

New Orleans Police Department releases statement on Nate Diaz

During the street fight video, members of the New Orleans Police Department can be seen trying to de-escalate the situation. It looks like they were too busy stopping people from punching Chase DeMoor to realize Nate Diaz had choked a man unconscious. The NOPD released this statement:

“At or about 2:10am on Saturday April 22- NOPD’s Bourbon Street. Promenade officers and supervisors were alerted to a large altercation in the 400 block of Bourbon St. The officers were able to disperse the crowd. Witness alerted the officers to a white male subject who was believed to be unconscious. A short time later, the subject regained consciousness. Officers observed the subject was bleeding from the rear of his head and EMS was summoned to render aid.”

Diaz last fought in September 2022 at UFC 279, defeating Tony Ferguson by a fourth-round submission. He decided not to re-sign with the UFC, leading to a boxing match against Jake Paul on August 5. It’s unclear if the New Orleans warrant will jeopardize the upcoming event.
