UFC star Conor McGregor is coming to the defense of his friend Bellator MMA fighter and boxer Dillon Danis.
It has been over three years since the MMA community saw Dillon Danis compete. The grappling stand-out decided to make his way over to MMA and linked up with Bellator. He fought twice under the promotion’s banner before suffering an injury that has kept him out since 2019. He won both of his Bellator fights but his true claim to fame has been his association with UFC star Conor McGregor.
McGregor and Danis first hooked up back in 2016 when McGregor offered him a place in his training camp. McGregor brought him on to help him get ready for his fight against Nate Diaz at UFC 202. The pair became good friends and Danis became a part of McGregor‘s entourage. When McGregor lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 Nurmagomedov jumped from the cage onto Danis.
From those events forward Danis has sort of been known as a “bad boy” in the world of MMA. He can trash talk and although he has not been active, has been getting in verbal spats with many fighters on social media. He and McGregor have not been in the same location together for a while which led MMA journalist Ariel Helwani to question the status of their friendship on a recent episode of The MMA hour.

Conor McGregor comes to the defense of Dillon Danis following accusations of a rift in their friendship
Helwani asked Danis if his friendship with McGregor was still going on. Danis said yes but could not recall the last time the two spoke. The question may have arisen because another former friend of McGregor‘s is now suing him. His former friend Artem Lobov is now suing him for money stemming from his Proper 12 whiskey business.
It seems as though McGregor and Danis are still in a good place and McGregor took to Twitter to reaffirm that.
I am not too sure. Maybe because of the rartem situation? I’m still rockin with Dillon. All the way! https://t.co/2AGUOet9J7

Danis is now healed up from knee surgery and will try his hands at boxing for the first time. He will be facing YouTuber KSI in a boxing match in London on Jan. 14. Although McGregor has experience in boxing, he explained that he has not asked him for help in this training camp.
