Conor McGregor Fires Back At Canelo Alvarez: ‘You Little Ginger Sausage’

Conor McGregor called out Canelo Alvarez after the boxing world champion claimed he could easily defeat 'The Notorious' in a boxing match.

Conor McGregor wasn’t happy with Canelo Alvarez saying he could beat him in a boxing match with one hand.

In August 2017, McGregor made history by selling over four million pay-per-views in a boxing match against Floyd Mayweather Jr. Fast forward several years, and ‘The Notorious’ has continued to call out Canelo for another massive boxing payday.

During a recent media appearance, McGregor voiced his interest in fighting Canelo. The Guadalajara native responded in Spanish, which was translated by Michael Benson on Twitter:

“Canelo Alvarez on Conor McGregor calling him out: “I’d beat him with one hand.”

Canelo has plenty of reasons to be confident in a boxing match against McGregor. At 32 years old, the Mexican-born fighter is the undisputed super middleweight world champion. He last fought on May 6, defeating John Ryder by unanimous decision in his hometown of Guadalajara, Mexico.

If the boxing match against McGregor is possible, it will likely have to wait while Canelo continues to chase legacy. Now that the 32-year-old is riding a two-fight win streak, he hopes to land a rematch against Dmitry Bivol, who defeated him in May 2022 at light heavyweight.

Conor McGregor responds to Canelo Alvarez’s comments

Conor McGregor isn’t the type of person to let someone insult him without a response. Once the video of Canelo Alvarez’s comments surfaced on social media, McGregor wasted no time before firing back at the undisputed super middleweight boxing world champion. ‘The Notorious’ had this to say on Twitter:

“Canelo you little ginger sausage. I’d beat you with NO HANDS. Don’t forget.”

Before focusing on a potential boxing return, McGregor has business to take care of inside the Octagon. In July 2021, ‘The Notorious’ suffered a gruesome leg injury against Dustin Poirier, leading to his second consecutive loss. Now that he’s fully recovered, McGregor is expected to make his Octagon return later this year.

On May 30, the first episode of The Ultimate Fighter Season 31 will be released, featuring ‘The Notorious’ and Michael Chandler as rival coaches and future opponents. The fight date for the UFC superstars is expected to be featured at some point during the TUF 31 broadcast.
