Charlie Cox is training ‘exactly like a fighter’ before his return as ‘Daredevil’.
‘A New Level’
The British actor has been doing fight choreography for years now, amazing audiences with incredible fight scenes in Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ (2015-2018). Years after the hit TV show was cancelled, Cox has made his comeback as the blind superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
But this time around, Cox is taking it up a notch with his training regimen before filming starts for ‘Daredevil: Born Again’. The 39 year-old has been training MMA under fighter and coach Chris Fields at Team KF Martial Arts in Swords, Ireland.
“I’m finishing up a project at the moment in Dublin, and I’ve been working with an amazing MMA trainer [Chris Fields] over here,” Cox recently told The Hollywood Reporter. “So I’ve started to do some training with him to get ready for next year. So it’s been really fun to do that again and take it to a new level.”
Coach Praises Cox
Fields, a 21-fight veteran, had nothing but good things to say about Cox’s work in the gym. Fields was simply ‘blown away’ by the Daredevil actor’s qualities in each training session.
“It has been great working with Charlie over the last while, helping him prepare for his next role,” Fields wrote on Wednesday. “I was a little hesitant when I was first asked, as my expertise is being a coach to fighters. But after meeting Charlie, I quickly realised he wanted to train exactly like a fighter.
“He returned to the gym after each tough session I put him through and I was blown away by his work ethic and willingness to learn – the same characteristics needed to be an elite fighter. He fit in straight away with the team and his improvement from day one to now has been insane to see. I’m really excited to see some of this come through on the show. Videos of what myself and Charlie have been working on, dropping shortly.”
Cox might not be as good as a fighter as Daredevil, but hey, he’s definitely trying over there in Ireland. We’ll see what crazy fight scenes Charlie Cox gets into, in his upcoming roles as the costumed crime-fighter in Marvel’s ‘Echo’ and ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ in the next two years.
