Bummer, Bellator tournament winner Daniel Straus was just arrested for felony drug possession

I could think of about a thousand people I’d rather be right now, and all of them are not Daniel Straus. The dude is easily having the worst week ever. I’m sure there were plenty of other weeks in his life that have been stellar, even triumphant, but this week was definitely not it. Straus made short work of Bellator’s season six featherweight tournament, was slated to fight Pat Curran and challenge for a title, but was pulled earlier in the week after breaking his hand according to a report on MMAJunkie. For most people that in and of itself would make it a pretty crappy week, but we’re talking about the worst week ever; that combines losing a title shot and landing in a Florida jail for felony drug possession (over 20 grams of cannibus, and ecstasy). The ‘Sunshine State’ could potentially hand down a maximum prison sentence of up to five years and $5000, per felony count, if convicted. We’re not sure what that means for his Bellator career, but in MiddleEasy’s collective experience with drug arrests, that probably means Straus won’t be able to leave the state of Florida once he meets his $2200 bail.

Since we’re all bummed out about this news, we’ll leave this Daniel Straus highlight reel below, and reminisce about weeks that weren’t as crappy as this one.
