You should all be disappointed if the next edition of Mortal Kombat doesn’t have a cheat code that harnesses the power of a Jon Jones elbow strike. It single-handedly makes Scorpion’s ability to breathe fire look like something juvenile you’d see in a drunken game of beer pong. Everyone who has tasted Bones’ elbows has ended up with a medical suspension and unless you’re Brandon Vera, you probably respect his authority in UFC’s light heavyweight division by now. Despite leaving the cage with a broken skull at UFC Live on Versus 1, ‘The Truth’ is still not that convinced Jon Bones is the next big thing.
“During the fight I remember thinking, ‘Man, really? All the hype was about this guy?’ I specifically remember saying to him in my head, ‘Man, you [expletive] suck.’
“Right when the ‘k’ came out in my head, I got blasted.”
“It’s hard for me to say because he beat me, but I still don’t believe the hype. I like Jon Jones as a fighter, but I owe that [expletive]. He’s definitely not coming to my house for Christmas.”
Three metal plates and six screws later, Brandon Vera is slating a December or January return to the UFC. The silver-lining to his injury cloud is that Kerry Vera has been by his side a majority of that time. Just goes to show you that even when Brandon Vera loses, he still wins anyway. As for Jon Jones, he plans to continue serving up humble pie by the slice while the rest of the division hopes they don’t have to fight him next. [Source]
