Highly touted MMA prospect Bo Nickal made his sophomore appearance inside the Octagon at UFC 290 on Saturday night.
Nickal first stormed onto the scene scoring back-to-back first-round submissions on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2022. He followed that up with another first-round finish in his promotional debut, defeating Jamie Pickett in less than three minutes at UFC 285 in March. Returning to the T-Mobile Arena, Nickal squared off with undefeated short-notice replacement Val Woodburn. ‘The Animal’ looked to stop Nickal’s hype train in its tracks and land the biggest win of his mixed martial arts career thus far.
Round 1
Bo Nickal immediately comes out feinting the takedown before throwing a massive overhand left. Woodburn fires back but hits nothing, but air. Nickal swings back with a left and tags Woodburn with a left followed by an uppercut that sent Woodburn crashing to the canvas. Nickal pounced on his opponent, but referee Chris Tognoni had already seen enough and called for the stoppage less than a minute into the opening round.
Official Result: Bo Nickal def. Val Woodburn via KO (strikes) at 0:38 of Round 1.
