  • “Malhadinho” will face Curtis Blaydes at UFC 299

UFC heavyweight Jailton Almeida suffered a defeat at the hands of a fighter with Down Syndrome.

A fight for the ages

Almedia is set to take on Curtis Blaydes at UFC 299 but he was slated against Alvaro Borges, an athlete with Down Syndrome, in a charity MMA match that took place at CT de Boxe e Artes Marciais, in Salvador, Brazil this past Saturday.

Early in the match, Almeida took Borges down and tried to gain control. However, Borges was able to work on “Malhadinho” and eventually managed to ground and pound the UFC heavyweight.

Borges caught Almeida and took the fight to the ground once again. Borges then pulled off an armbar, which tapped the Brazilian.

As expected, Borges beat Almeida and was awarded with a World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) replica belt.

Jailton is booked for a real fight

Almeida may have found time to do some charity match but in reality, “Malhadinho” is gearing up for his UFC 299 bout against Blaydes. Almeida is coming off a dominant decision win over Derrick Lewis at UFC Sao Paolo. He also secured a submission win over Jairzinho Rozenstruik at UFC Charlotte. Needless to say, the Brazilian would be looking to extend his unbeaten UFC run.

As it stands, Almeida has gone 6-0 under the UFC banner. He currently has a 20-2 pro MMA record and is sitting at No. 7 in the official UFC heavyweight rankings.
