Michael Bisping could be the first man to defeat Anderson Silva inside the UFC Octagon and still the H-Bomb .gif will be the only reaction from approximately 87% of his viewing audience. That moment in July, 2009 has gone on to evolve into some living, breathing entity of it’s own, fueled by the fingertips and giggles of MMA fans the world over. And outside of an Anderson Silva highlight, what replay has been viewed more than Dan Henderson’s KO of Bisping in the last 3-4 years? In a lot of ways, these Michael Bisping article intros are nothing but arbitrary words, jumbled together and waiting for the punchline (pun intended?) that is Bisping getting knocked out over and over and over again in the comment section.
Somewhere, Luke Rockhold is watching the .gif and smiling after Bisping visited MMA Uncensored and threw the Strikeforce middleweight champ a pretty nice zinger.
“Luke Rockhold? By all accounts he and Lorenz Larkin should fight and the winner of that fight — if not both of them — go over to the UFC. Are they gonna come over and be number one contenders? I don’t think so. You’re in Strikeforce, come over to the UFC and earn your place. Let me put it like this: I’ve sparred with Luke Rockhold recently and let’s just say I’m the unofficial Strikeforce champion. Sorry Luke, but these are the facts.”
That’s a fight that could realistically happen kind of soon if Strikeforce dies. We’re down to watch.
