Anderson Silva says it’s cool to call out your opponent, just don’t talk about their mom

Fair play to Anderson Silva. Dude has to decided to go with the strict interpretation of ‘playground rules’ and will call out his opponent in any way possible…but he will not talk about their mother. If you’ve ever been in a scrap after school, you can literally feel the tension in the air when personal insults transform into ‘your mother’ jokes. It elevates the fight game to this new realm of clawing, scratching and desk chairs being thrown. In an interview on SporTV (via BloodyElbow), Anderson Silva says that even though he went into his UFC 112 bout with ample amounts of trash talk, he would never cross the ‘your mother is so fat…’ threshold.

“Sometimes it happens, sometimes when you are so high on adrenaline, when you have a strong will to do the fight, of wanting the fight, there are things that you end up saying”

What you can’t do is curse the mother of your adversary, you can’t use foul language against your adversary, but damn, if you call the guy to fight, ask the guy to get up, ask the guy to hit you, that’s normal, I see nothing wrong with that”.

Of course, if Anderson Silva decides to talk about your mother, you really can’t do anything about it aside from smiling and nodding. [Source]
