  • Alex Pereira thinks Jiri Prochazka is a better overall fighter than Jamahal Hill
  • “Poatan” reiterated that UFC 301 is still realistically possible

Alex Pereira compared Jamahal Hill with Jiri Prochazka ahead of UFC 300 and talked about his plan to fight at UFC 301.

Jiri is better than Jamahal

Speaking to Shak MMA, “Poatan” assessed Hill’s overall skill set. For Pereira, “Sweet Dreams” possesses some devastating power in his fists. However, the Brazilian believes that Prochazka, whom he finished via TKO to capture the light heavyweight title at UFC 295, is the better and more skilled fighter between the two.

“I think Jiri is more accurate and precise with his strikes, the way that he flows, the way that he fights,” Pereira said through an interpreter. “Jamahal Hill has a little more advantage on his power, which makes him dangerous, too, because nobody wants to take a hit and go down in a fight. But when you talk about skill level, Jiri Prochazka is superior.”

UFC 301 is still a possibility regardless of who the opponent is

Pereira also doubled down on his bold idea of competing at UFC 301 after UFC 300. According to “Poatan,” it’s still realistically possible as long as he remains healthy and if the UFC cooperates.

Should everything plays out the way he envisioned it, Pereira could pick between Aleksandar Rakic or Magomed Ankalaev as his UFC 301 matchup. However, the light heavyweight champ said it could be a challenge to make either of the pair to agree to fight with a short training camp.

“Realistically speaking with the whole momentum that he has on the organization right now, and if he leaves really healthy and he says look I wanna fight over there, it’s hard for them to say no…I think with everything that’s going on right now he is able to call the shots,” the translator said of Pereira.

“It’s up to the organization… it may be hard for one of those guys [or] anybody to accept a fight in three weeks like that… Maybe they’ll just take the fight for the opportunity that they’re getting,” he added.

Pereira will try to defend light heavyweight title for the first time at UFC 300. By contrast, Hill will be hoping to finally take his belt back and prove that he is the true 205-division king.
