Your UFC Light Heavyweight Champion isn’t going anywhere.

On Wednesday, defending champ Alex Pereira announced that he has signed another multi-fight contract with the UFC. This new deal was brought to the Brazilian’s negotiation table for his latest fight. With less than two months to prepare, Pereira accepted the call to headline UFC 300 against former champ Jamahal Hill

The Details

Pereira’s brand new contract has a total of eight fights, with the first coming against ‘Sweet Dreams’ on Apr. 13. The champ put the pen to paper last Friday, just one day before Dana White’s main event announcement.

‘Poatan’ doesn’t smile that much as is, but he seems to be happy with the promotion that’s been his home since 2021.

“My relationship with the UFC is really good,” Pereira said through his coach, who translated on ‘The MMA Hour‘. “I’m very grateful by the way that the UFC and my management team gets together. They’ve been doing great things together. I think UFC also appreciates who I am, because I’m a composed guy, I focus and I deliver.”

Delivered, he has. Pereira has stayed perfect in the Octagon for the most part, with his lone loss coming to all-time great Israel Adesanya at UFC 287 by way of KO. In his run, the former Glory Kickboxing Champion has picked up the middleweight title before and currently holds on to light heavyweight gold, which he won at UFC 295 against Jiri Prochazka.

A UFC fan-favorite around the world, it’s not much of a surprise why the promotion decided to re-sign the knockout artist.

“When I first joined the UFC, they gave me three fights. After the first fight, they would renew me for eight. I think after the Strickland fight or something like that, they renew it again. So, now they just gave him another eight fights. Of course, I bring to the table, too, and they’re happy with that. But, they are very good with us, too. So, we cannot complain. We are in a perfect relationship with them.”
