Abel Trujillo to Jamie Varner: You’ll Take My Life But I’ll Take Yours Too

There are very few classic Iron Maiden songs as memorable and well known as Iron Maiden’s classic “The Trooper,” which illustrates the struggles that a soldier would have faced in wars long past. I was quickly reminded of this song as tonight at UFC 169 Abel Trujillo and Jamie Varner began throwing heavy leather, looking to rip each other’s heads off. To say that this fight was exciting is an understatement, as it really seemed like either man could have taken the fight and for a second there it looked like Jamie Varner had the fight secured.

The punches were landing like a galloping riff from Dave Murray and Adrian Smith in round two before Varner took the advantage. Jamie Varner swarmed in round two and landed a vicious and clean knee to the face only to get clubbed in the face by Trujillo’s right hand. “You’ll fire your musket but I’ll run you through.”

Whoooooaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
