A trio of fun Facebook fights are in the can

The Facebook prelims began in earnest with a somewhat choppy and blurry stream of Cole Escovedo dropping a unanimous decision in a hard fought battle featuring guard pulls and flying knees against Jose Aldo training partner Renan Barao. Props to Cole for coming back from the most gruesome staph infection of all time to make it to the big show. It’s a shame Cole couldn’t pull out the W, he seems like a guy I would like to see win (he loves larping?).

The second Facebook prelim, which for me actually became the Yahoo prelims after I discovered they had a much higher quality stream, showcased Chris Cariaso vs wunderkind 20 year old Michael McDonald. After a stand up affair that eventually made it’s way to the ground in the late periods, McDonald, who has zero recollection of the Jordan era Bulls came out on the right side of a close split decision victory. Don’t blame the judge’s views, they have monitors for this event.

The next fight was Gleison Tibau vs Rafaello Oliveira in a fun, grinding affair that proves that the 155 division is almost unfathomably deep. After 7 minutes of grappling chess, Tibau dropped Oliveira with a short powerful left punch that eventually led to the taking of Oliveira’s back and subsequent RNC.

I love free MMA. Thanks Uncle Dana and this guy.
