I’ve attended a hand full of gaming and MMA conventions both big and small. The biggest difference outside of the attractions people are there to see and enjoy is cosplayers. I know cosplayers get a bad name at times for being “weird” whatever that means. I wish MMA cosplaying was a thing, imagine people going to a UFC event, carrying around an enormous cross and a bunch of fake tribal tattoos? That would be glorious. It’s not only what MMA should have, it’s what MMA needs at this point.
It’s fair to say that MMA cosplay would have its stumbles, as I’m sure there would be many people all dressing up as the same thing, such as females dressing up as Pikachu at video game conventions. I wonder what the most popular MMA cosplay would be? Maybe GSP? People would just wear a gi and a rising sun headband.
Sadly even if MMA cosplay took off, it would take years for it to reach the levels of a function Gameboy cosplay. A man can dream though, can’t he?
