Have five minutes? Watch someone beat Super Mario Bros. and set a world record

These speed runs make me feel like less of a man, or more of one. I’m not sure which. I still play SMB on emulator every once in a while, and yeah, I can get pretty far in the game, but the hammer throwing dudes get me every time. Now I know I should treat them like zombies and just run the **** past them as fast as I can. Who knew it would be that easy?

It’s shocking how something as seemingly innocuous as playing Mario can be an intense game of inches with world records on the line, and what’s even more incredible is that the guy who made the video below these words beat the previous world record by less than a second. Each jump looks perfectly timed, perfectly placed and expertly mapped. This guy clearly has every jump memorized, every goomba pattern committed to memory… I’m getting more and more blown away at this by the word.

Just watch the video. Be impressed.
