I’m going to go out on a limb here and say Half-Life was one of the most important experiences of any gamer’s life. Between the Half-Life series and System Shock 1 & 2, almost every single tentpole moment we see in FPS single player experiences were introduced by these late-90’s titles. I’ve tried to go back and play Half-Life, but it’s just too difficult. While the lessons on development and gameplay experiences are everlasting, the mechanics themselves as well as the graphics have aged in near dog years. Luckily, the long in development Source remake of Half-Life has been released on Steam’s Greenlight page, and what’s even better – Valve has given these modders and Half-Life enthusiasts permission to sell the game for a “relatively” low price.
Why now? Well, Tuesday was the fifteenth anniversary of Half-Life, so why wouldn’t Valve do something altruistic, it’s just their way.
So stay tuned for a badass fan-remake of Half-Life, coming to us soon.
(This trailer is from 5 years ago but who cares? Let’s watch again!)
