Holy %*#$*, Batman. The Arkham Knight gameplay trailer that was just shown during Sony’s E3 press conference was so goddamn next-gen. It’s no big secret that here at MiddleEasy I am the resident “Batman guy” so any time anything Batman related comes up, it usually falls in my lap. Which I usually accept, groan slightly begrudgingly about never being able to expand my portfolio beyond DC lore, and then write. Tonight however, I don’t even give a shit because Arkham Knight looks awesome. Now, I know. We’re all still reeling from the colossal disappoint that somehow still managed to be worth playing that was Arkham Origins, but it’s time to start getting excited. Like Arkham City excited, because Arkham Knight is going to be something special.
I’ve always said that when it comes to combat the Assassin’s Creed games could really learn a thing or two from the Arkham games. Yes, both rely very heavily on countering an attack, and then carrying that momentum into chaining other attacks, but at least in the Arkham games you can actually initiate an attack without feeling like you’re just uselessly bashing an aluminum baseball bat on a light pole. Also – the goddamn Batman mobile!
