Profile

Rampage Jackson is a master of slams. He knows to lift his opponent in the air and throw him hard on the ground in Matt Hughes style. He uses his brute force to escape the submission attempts. Just remember how he evaded triangle choke versus Ricardo Arona – he picked him up while Arona was busy working on a triangle choke and executed his world-class “power bomb”!

Jackson rocked Griffin and sent him to the ground in the first round. However, during the whole fight, Forrest Griffin was pushing the pace and chopping Rampage down with brutal low kicks. Both fighters received Fight Of The Night bonus, and the fight became The Fight Of The Year.

Wanderlei Silva defeated Rampage Jackson two times in PRIDE, and they faced for the third time at UFC 92 on December 27, 2008. This time, Rampage knocked his toughest rival out with a tremendous left half-uppercut to the chin and revenged for previous two losses, earning Knockout Of The Night award.

Jackson defeated Keith Jardine in the main event of UFC 96 on March 7, 2009, via unanimous decision, and won one more Fight Of The Night award. After this fight, Rampage had a jaw injury which almost made him leave the world of fighting.

After this fight, Jackson re-signed his Bellator MMA contract and moved to Heavyweight division. He lost the fight on Bellator 192 from Chael Sonnen via unanimous decision.

Rampage Jackson was arrested in Costa Mesa on July 15, 2008. He is charged with felony reckless driving, and felony hit and run after striking several vehicles. Rampage forced police to chase him while he was riding on the wrong side of the street and on city sidewalks. He was even driving one part of the road on the rims!

Rampage pleaded guilty to some offenses and made a plea agreement which allowed him to walk away as a free man as soon as he completes 200 hours of community service. In 2014, Jackson revealed that the reason for his reckless driving was an attempt to reach friend’s house and prevent the suicide attempt.
