Hasim Rahman Jr. doesn’t seem concerned about Jake Paul.
YouTube sensation Jake Paul is set to take on Hasim Rahman Jr. He was initially scheduled to take on Tommy Fury after their first planned outing in December. Fury was forced to withdraw due to a rib injury with ex-UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley stepping in as the replacement. Paul went on to viciously knockout Woodley in just 70 seconds.
This time around, Fury pulled out of the match again claiming visa issues paving the way for Rahman Jr.
Hasim Rahman Jr. is confident he won’t repeat the mistake Tyrone Woodley made
In an interview with TMZ Sports, Hasim Rahman Jr. ensured that he will not make the same mistake as Woodley did against “The Problem Child.”
“Bro, [Jake’s] a little boy, and I’m gonna treat him like one. That’s what Woodley didn’t do. Woodley gave him too much respect, and he sat back with his hands down and he got caught.
“All of Jake’s opponents have been smaller than him. All of them have been much smaller. This is the first time he’s going to be in there with someone that’s walking him down and much bigger than him.” (transcribed by TMZ Sports)
Rahman Jr. believes that Paul had “no chance” against him at his weight class
The heavyweight boxer is rebounding from his first professional loss in boxing. Since he lost the April fight by TKO, he believes that might have given Paul the false sense of confidence that he could beat Rahman Jr., the son of two-time world heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman.
“If you really wanted to make a statement you would’ve came up to heavyweight and fought me. But you didn’t. You wanted to bring me down, and stack the deck against me, so you could actually have a fighting chance. He knows he has no chance against me had it been at my weight class.”
Jake Paul will fight Hasim Rahman Jr. on August 6 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
