Anthony Taylor Scores Massive Upset, Hands Salt Papi His First Loss – KSI vs. Fournier Results (Highlights)

Anthony Taylor earned the biggest win of his boxing career thus far, besting previously undefeated standout Salt Papi

Salt Papi made his highly anticipated return to the squared circle on Saturday afternoon at the OVO Arena Wembley in London as part of the Misfits & DAZN: X Series 007 main card. Headlined by a Misfits Boxing cruiserweight title fight pitting undefeated standouts KSI and Joe Fournier against one another, fans were treated to another appearance by Nathaniel Bustamante, best known by combat sports fans as Salt Papi.

Papi made his fourth walk to the ring to face former mixed martial artist Anthony Taylor. After going 7-5 in MMA, ‘Pretty Boy’ transitioned to boxing with mixed results. Taylor is 3-6 in exhibition and professional bouts combined.

Round 1

Anthony Taylor came out landing a big right hand that snapped back Papi’s head. Papi looks to bring pressure, but Taylor is firing back and looking to make this a street fight. Taylor lunges in with a combination, but nothing gets through. Papi continues to stalk Taylor as ‘PrettyBoy’ targets the body. Right hand from Taylor lands. Papi eats another right hand and attempts to return fire, but misses. Taylor throws caution to the wind and leaves himself exposed in the process. Papi backs Taylor into the corner and unloads a series of strikes moments before the first round ends.

Round 2

Taylor came out looking to move but ate a big left hand from Papi in the opening seconds. Taylor lunges with a right but misses. Taylor rips to the body. Papi goes to the body but misses allowing Taylor to tie up. Left hook lands for Taylor as Papi begins to fight more aggressively. Taylor lands another right hand that pops Papi’s head back. Papi flashes a smile, but it doesn’t change the fact that Taylor is the one landing the more significant strikes. Taylor closes the distance and does some dirty boxing against the ropes through the end of the second.

Round 3

Taylor comes out once again firing off his right hand. Taylor is much more active and is starting to run away with things as Papi has failed to unleash any real offense. Taylor closes the distance and throws a series of strikes at Papi’s body. Papi absorbs another big right hand and delivers nothing in return. Taylor goes to the body and Papi ties up. Papi unleashes a solid left hook that lands while Taylor looks to work in the clinch through the remaining 30 seconds of the fight. The third and final round ends with both fighters staring at one another.
