Pearl Gonzalez seems to be putting her mixed martial arts (MMA) career on the backburner in favor of a professional boxing career for the time being.
Pearl Gonzalez Focused On Boxing
Gonzalez has been competing in boxing primarily as of late. She signed with Bare-Knuckle FC (BKFC) back in April of 2021, going 1-1 inside the squared circle.
She then made her professional boxing debut this past Friday at Gamebred Boxing 2. There, Gonzalez defeated Danielle Wynn via unanimous decision.
Speaking to MMA Junkie recently, Gonzalez declared professional boxing will be her full-time focus moving forward.
“I miss MMA, it’s always been my passion and my love, but as of right now, my priority is boxing,” Gonzalez said. “I can 100 percent box, and it’s been a focus of mine. I’ve fallen in love with it.
“You think that with just five punches, and I believe a lot of MMA fighters believe that it’s just hands, but there are so many intricate things that go into boxing details.
“It’s a battle of centimeters. It’s been a really interesting experience to focus on solely boxing when you’re used to training everything.”
Gonzalez is a longtime MMA veteran who competed inside the cage for 10 years. She had a brief stint in the UFC, which included two fights on pay-per-view (PPV) cards, losing both.
It doesn’t matter if I’m early or late for my flights, I somehow always end up running at-least a mile in the airport! 😩🤣 🏃🏻♀️💨🥵 pic.twitter.com/6j4VDO2Tj3

After being released from the UFC, Gonzalez began fighting for Invicta FC, where she went 4-2, including a shot at the vacant flyweight title, which she ultimately lost.
Her last MMA bout took place in February of 2020, where she lost via unanimous decision. Now, Gonzalez looks to string together a healthy win streak inside the boxing world, potentially earning a shot at a world title.
