  • Jake Paul suggests either a no contest or disqualification on KSI’s illegal KO on Joe Fournier
  • Fournier is appealing for KSI’s win to be overturned to a loss

KSI is making waves in the boxing world once again after securing a second-round knockout win over Joe Fournier at Misfits Boxing 007 in London. The KO was widely viewed as illegal after replays revealed that KSI hit Fournier with an elbow and not a punch.

Among those who want KSI’s win to be overturned is his fellow YouTuber-turned-boxing star Jake Paul, the younger brother of KSI’s former opponent, Logan.

It should be an NC or disqualification

In a tweet, “The Problem Child” said:

“I respect boxing too much to respect what that was. If that was indeed a real boxing match it will be ruled a no contest or disqualification.”

Fournier, who came in unbeaten in all of his nine bouts as a pro, bluntly declared after the fight that KSI cheated. According to Fournier, the ref saw it clearly but the entire thing was biased.

“He cheated, clear, and black and white… you’ve all seen the replays. It has gone viral, it’s all over the world. He hit me with a clean elbow. The ref was right there watching it, obviously, the guy owns the promotion, when you’re fighting the promoter on his own show – I’ve never been cheated like that in my life,” Fournier exclaimed.

More importantly, Fournier ultimately wants KSI’s win to be overturned.

“I felt the elbow. I saw the punch go past my face and then he hits me with his elbow… Of course, you gotta run it back. He should be disqualified, that should go down as a loss… It’s not Muay Thai, it’s not MMA.

Things happened so fast

In his defense, KSI insisted that things happened so fast but he is certain he didn’t hit Fournier with an elbow.

“Honestly, it was so fast that I didn’t even think that I hit him with an elbow,” KSI said.

KSI’s promoter Kalle Sauerland further explained that it wasn’t an elbow but more of a forearm which was still caused by a punch.

“If you look back at it… He [KSI] throws the first flurry of punches, Fournier steps, basically those have rocked him. He comes in and yes, there is a right hand that goes over, you can see the best shot is if you look behind the head, you when the fist goes past the chin, the head moves. So the movement has been caused by, initially by the punch. Yes, there was a follow through you can see it’s not an elbow, it’s more of a forearm that comes across it, that happens in big fights.”

As it stands, the KO was still credited to KSI but many believe it could be in jeopardy and is likely to be overturned.

KSI has maintained an unbeaten record in both professional and exhibition fights, securing a 5-0 record to date, including the controversial KO on Fournier. On the other hand, Fournier boasts a remarkable 9-0 boxing record, including nine wins through knockouts, with one fight declared a no-contest.
