Floyd Mayweather Declares Intent To Rematch Manny Pacquiao
Floyd Mayweather has announced that he is working on fighting Manny Pacquiao again. This time though, it will be an exhibition match.
Mayweather fought Pacquiao in a highly anticipated match way back in 2015. In what would end up being the highest selling pay per view of all time, Mayweather won the bout. However, in the end, the bout did not necessarily live up to the expectations set in place for years prior.
Since then, Pacquiao has gone on to have a mixed career, but is still actively competing. On the other hand, Mayweather retired, but came back for a massive fight against Conor McGregor. Subsequently, he retired again, but then came back for an exhibition match against kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa.
However, in a recent Instagram post, Floyd Mayweather said he will be back again. According to his post, he will be taking another exhibition match in Japan. This time, it will be a rematch with Manny Pacquiao.
“What I’m working on right now is the mayweather pacquiao exhibition, right here in tokyo, japan. Stay Tuned!”
While he says that it is not official yet, Mayweather explains that he is working with his TMT Tokyo team, to make the fight happen. If he can make it happen, this fight would be a sight too behold. One of the main criticisms headed into their first fight, was that it was a bit past its sell-by date. Therefore, the rematch 5 years later may not be much better.
