Shortly after winning over Conor Mcgregor at UFC 229, Khabib Nurmgaomedov called out retired undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather saying hey Floyd let’s go we have to fight now.
Not long after that, ‘Money’ responded, assuring that he’s ready for the challenge and all parties involved should get the checkbook out.
Many fans and sports analysis doubt that this fight will never happen as they’re just entertaining us, but a 41 years old boxing legend says this fight is happening.
In a recent interview with TMZ, Mayweather says a boxing match against Nurmagomedov is “happening,” however he didn’t offer any further detail and adding that he’d potentially be making the biggest paycheck than the one he received to box Conor Mcgregor, where Mayweather won that bout by TKO in the 10th round.
Mayweather also layout the fight rules that Khabib has to crossover to the boxing ring for the showdown and it has to happen in ‘Sin City Las Vegas.
“Oh, we’re fighting,” Mayweather said (transcript via MMAjunkie). “I’m my own boss. I can’t say what’s going on on Khabib’s end, but on my end, we can make it happen.
“… When I face Khabib, I’m getting a nine-figure payday. It’s more than the McGregor fight – probably $100 million more, guaranteed. It could be somewhere between $110 [million] and $200 million guaranteed.”
Khabib is currently under NSAC suspension, as well Commission is withholding his fight purse of $2 million pending further investigation. ‘Eagle’ is expected to get some severe fine or additional suspension when the hearing conducts on October 24.
Yesterday UFC president Dana White confirms that UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmgaomedov is staying with the UFC as both sides have sorted out things.
First Khabib has to resolve his issues with Commission, after that he has to decide if he wants to meet Mayweather’s demands.
