Floyd Mayweather Reacts To Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Call Out: ‘Get The Checkbook Out’

Boxing Legend Floyd Mayweather To Khabib: ‘Get The Checkbook Out’

After scoring the biggest win of his career by submitting Conor McGregor in the fourth round at UFC 229 to retain the UFC lightweight title, undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov is looking out a boxing match with pugilist Floyd Mayweather. Russian also believes that he can do better than Mcgregor, who lost to Mayweather Jr. last year via tenth round stoppage.

Mayweather caught wind of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s challenge and took to Twitter Monday morning and said get the checkbook out.

Yesterday Khabib was seen at a boxing event mixing up with the CEO of Mayweather’s promotion company Leonard Ellerbe; a clip was released where ‘Eagle’ called out the Mayweather saying, “Hey let’s go, Floyd, we have to fight now”

Mayweather who said previously that he’s not too familiar with Khabib Nurmagomedov and is impressed by his unbeaten record, but was unimpressed with his shocking UFC 229 post-fight antics.

“McGregor was fighting. I’m not too familiar with the guy he was fighting. But I know that the guy he was facing was undefeated. McGregor, he’s a tough competitor, but from what I heard was, the guy, after the fight, McGregor’s opponent jumped out the ring, and was fighting people in the crowd.

”So, very unprofessional. It’s gonna be a huge fine. Pretty sure. Because, with my fight with Zab Judah, (there) was a huge melee in the ring. There was a huge penalty, a huge fine. If I’m not mistaken, seven figures. Not to me – but it could have been to Zab Judah, or my uncle Roger (Mayweather), or even Leonard Ellerbe. So I know, with a guy jumping out the cage into the audience and fighting different people, the fine is gonna be crazy.”

A challenge from Khabib was nothing new to Mayweather who had a memorable feud with Conor Mcgregor before they threw down in a highly publicized boxing spectacle last year. Mayweather beat the Irishman in a boxing ring via tenth round TKO on Aug. 26, 2017, and both took home a hefty paycheck.

Both Khabib and Mayweather didn’t give any hint at what kind of rules they might fight under if this fight materialize. But sure it seems that fire is high from both sides.
