BKFC star ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry would love to welcome Jake Paul to the world of bare-knuckle boxing.
After a middling run under the UFC banner, Perry found success, fame, and fortune as one of the BKFC’s premiere brawlers. Making his debut at the promotion’s second-annual KnuckleMania event, Perry has built a fairly impressive resume, defeating Michael ‘Venom’ Page and former UFC champions Luke Rockhold and Eddie Alvarez inside the squared circle.
Speaking with TMZ Sports, Perry spoke about a potential clash with none other than ‘The Problem Child’ who is currently gearing up for a big-money fight with heavyweight boxing legend ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson on July 20.
“I wouldn’t put it past Jake Paul [to fight bare-knuckle] because he’s been doing stuff that that people would say that he’s afraid of and that’ was partly drew me to bare-knuckle — that so many were worried about it or afraid of it and I’m like, it seems real to me,” Perry said. “So Jake, man, I definitely issue you a challenge if you get through Mike Tyson. Test yourself for real and let’s have a street fight.
“He tried to pass me off to Bradley Martyn. He’s like, if you beat Mike Perry in a street fight… Bradley was never going to say yes to that. He wouldn’t want me to come across at him, throwing bare-knuckle fists at his face, but Jake might have the balls to do it.”
Mike Perry is Not Impressed With Jake Paul’s Latest Victories
Though Perry was willing to admit that Paul does have some talent, he made it clear that in a bare-knuckle fight, the YouTuber-turned-boxer would find himself in a world of hurt.
“He’s got some [talent], but I’m beating him as fast as he’s beating these taxi drivers,” Perry added. “Especially bare-knuckle. I’ll hurt him. He’ll cry, run away, and cower in the corner in the fetal position. ‘No, don’t hit me no more.’ Who’s he getting? They’re getting him these guys he can just knock out, man. I’m interested in Mike [Tyson]. He’s a savage.”
Before announcing his fight with “the baddest man on the planet,” Jake Paul scored back-to-back first-round knockouts against a couple of no-named boxers — Andre August and Ryan Bourland — under his Most Valuable Promotions banner.
As for Mike Perry, ‘Platinum’ will return to the ring on April 27 for a showdown with another former UFC standout, Thiago Alves, at BKFC KnuckleMania 4 inside the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
