Former UFC two-division champion Daniel Cormier encouraged Charles Oliveira to make things personal with Conor McGregor.

McGregor has been on the sidelines for over a year and a half since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in Jul. 2021 at UFC 264. After recovering from the injury, he got to make his Hollywood debut and has been inching closer to his comeback. Michael Chandler is leading the race along with Tony Ferguson to welcome McGregor back with a few other options thrown in the mix.

Daniel Cormier tells Charles Oliveira to insult Conor McGregor

In a recent YouTube video, Daniel Cormier advised Charles Oliveira to insult Conor McGregor to get the matchup.

“Charles is another guy that had things to say about McGregor,” he said. “But it’s much different because ‘Gamebred’ is still calling for a fight. ‘Do Bronx’ said he’s done calling for McGregor. He said there are no fools here. Everyone wants that fight because it will give them a lot of money. Then, Oliveira continued and said that he’s a guy that needs to be hyped. He says he asked for the fight plenty of times and he never said anything. I’ll be ready to fight him one day when he wants to but I won’t call out his name anymore.”

“For these guys to get McGregor to fight them, especially where they are in their careers right now, I think you got to keep insulting him and you got to go further.”

Cormier wants Oliveira to make things nasty with McGregor

‘DC’ believes Oliveira isn’t the most suitable opponent for McGregor’s return and laid out the only way for him to increase his chances of getting the fight.

“I really believe that for Charles Oliveira now not holding that belt, which was the one thing that made him valuable to Conor.”

“I don’t imagine for a second that a guy like Charles Oliveira is at the top of the list when you’re looking at potential options for comeback… If he really does want an opportunity, I think Oliveira needs to talk more about McGregor and be more insulting about him. Talk about all the issues he has. From the issue with the bus, the fight with the man in the pub, what he’s going through now. He has to get as personal as personal can be. Because then he’ll make that man pay attention because he’s a man. Get personal, get nasty if you wanna to get that cheque.”

The latest updates indicate McGregor could be back as a coach on the next season of the reality MMA competition show The Ultimate Fighter.
